lol, that's how they fight in star trek TOS, coeg, very crappily. i'll try to find the video of kirk "fighting" some lizard humanoid thing, probably the worst fight scene known to man
edit: found it. even though i like star trek tos, the fight scenes were god-awful, even for their time. now prepare for the suckiness!!!:

Its bad that I know that's a Gorn, isn't it?
And yeah...the fight scenes were always comical at best. Although, they are really funny in fast motion with some Benny Hill music playing...

oh ok. but ya, i dont quite understand why he had to do a lame jump off the wall in that first clip that was posted..... maybe kirk wanted to take his anger out on both the blue skinned guy and the wall in one movement, but the wall fought back and flipped him?

Andorian, not "blue skinned guy" And he had to increase his downward momentum to make the landing harder on the guy! That's basic physics

pfft, i'll be the nerd collosia, all you have to do is start a thread talking about the second punic war, or any other ancient military related post.
but back to the other thing, it looks more like he just kicked the andorian in the head and fell on the ground rather than try to body slam him, but maybe it's because it was sped up, or because it is tos after-all, not like they had amazing fight choreography. although looking back i can kinda see a little bit of what might be a body slam, although im not sure why he would do a body slam when he couldve just kicked the guy in the head.... "i don't.... know why.... kirk would do such... a thing!", as shatner would say

The Spartans at Thermopoli were nothing without the Naval support. True or False! DEFEND YOUR ANSWER.
Custer at Greasy Grass (Little Bighorn) was more about ego then tactics. True or False! DEFEND YOUR ANSWER!!

well, i dont really know much about little bighorn, military history starts to bore me when guns are the primary weapons.
but as for the battle of thermopylae, it was the athenian's battle at artemesium that had kept the persian navy busy, while the spartans and rest of the greek allies were able to hold off the poorly armored persians, who depended on their large numbers and large amounts (for that time) of cavaliers to win battles. the pass at thermopylae gave the greek phalanx an upper-hand, by forcing the persians to only be able to attack from one direction. had they fought on an open field, the greeks would've been surrounded and likely destroyed. naval support did assist the spartan led forces though. of course, athens reliance on the navy as it's strong arm was it's undoing during the peloponnesian wars, but thats another story.
although, my greek military history is rusty, so i cant recall too many details of thermopylae and artemesium: my nerdiness really shines when it comes to the second punic war though, since hannibal pwnz
